7 people killed in Nigeria mosque

Witnesses say suspected Islamic militants lured the faithful to a mosque then gunned them down.

They say the gunmen killed at least seven people before being attacked by soldiers guarding Damboa village, 85km west of the Borno state capital of Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria.

Military spokesperson Captain Aliyu Danja said troops killed 15 attackers.

Resident Kolomi Abba said the attack comes after he formed a group of civilian vigilantes to fight the extremists.

He said the gunmen came around 04:00. Saturday and forced the muezzin to chant the call to prayer that usually happens at 05:00. When villagers arrived, the extremists opened fire.

It is the latest in a string of attacks blamed on the Boko Haram group fighting to install an Islamic state.

MUST READ:: FUNNY LETTER FROM MR. PRESIDENT......lwkmd!!!

President goodluck gave a quick speech to our reporter yesterday night saying

My fellow Nigerians, i cannot sit back and allow these people curse me and my wife, calling me all sort of names, I’m doing my very best to campaign for 2015 and someone is there trying to paint me black, i wont tolerate it and from now on any Minister who cannot get his or her SHIT together should consider losing their jobs. Therefore i have come to conclusion that i would be terminating the services of our aviation minister, i know she is not at fault but at least i need a scape goat to teach other ministers to handle their sectors well”

NCAA confirms suspension of Dana airlines yet again

The operating license of Dana Airline has been suspended again following a tragic plane crash that killed 163 people in Lagos in June 2012.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, said on Sunday night that Dana has been suspended for precautionary measures after the airline had an air return.

“I can confirm the suspension of Dana Air’s operations to you,” said Fan Ndubuoke, spokesperson of the NCAA.

“They had an air return from Port Harcourt and they have been suspended for precautionary measures. The airline is under investigation,” he said.

He said he did not know how long the suspension will last.

The suspension of Dana came three days after a 23-year old plane belonging to Associated airline crashed in Lagos, killing 14 people and another plane belonging to Kabo airline crash-landed in Sokoto with 512 souls on board.

analysis on RADIATION shows that it ain't KILLING YOU - tech study

Contrary to the fuzzy notions many people have about radiation, it’s actually as natural as granola and rarely harmful (and just to make it clear: I am not now and have never been on the payroll of the nuclear industry). To most people the word “radiation” is synonymous with poisonous and deadly. Along with that are images borrowed from the pages of comic books of radiation accidents mutating humans or animals to create super powerful monsters or heroes.

Outside of science fiction the only thing we have to worry about are large doses of certain kinds of high energy radiation — like ultraviolet light, x-rays, and some of the heavier particles that are flung from the decaying nuclei of radioactive materials. If you wear clothes, hats and sunscreen, you have the first one under control. X-rays are not something we typically encounter outside the highly regulated space of a medical establishment, so we are pretty safe on that count. As for the rest, unless you work around these materials or are an astronaut, they are not something you need to worry about. The typical exposure we get is so small that the potential harm is negligible.

Larger doses are dangerous, of course because those more powerful forms of radiation can penetrate cells and damage our DNA. I’m not an expert, but I believe that most of the time that just causes a cell to die, which is no big deal to your body overall, since cells die all the time. Sometimes it makes a cell turn cancerous, or alters a gene in a gamete, which can lead to birth defects in the next generation. And that’s bad. But the odds of any of this radiation remaking us into superheroes are about the same as me reproducing the statue of David by taking aim at a block of marble with an AK-47.
