Britain's 10 Richest People Revealed

Below are the country's top ten richest residents, and a look
at how they came to be so rich.

1. Leonard Blavatnik
Ukrainian-born American Blavatnik, 56, has made his £10.8billion fortune through investments in oil, coal and property
and is the owner of Parlophone Records and the Warner Music Group. He recently donated £75m to found the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford.

2. Lakshmi Mittal
Mittal, 63, is the owner of a £10.2bn fortune. He made it in
the Indian steel business, and is now the owner of the world's largest steel manufacturer. His three properties in
Kensington Palace Gardens are believed to be worth £500m.

3. Srichand Hinduja and family.
The Indian born magnate, 78, is the chairman of the Hinduja group, and made his wealth in textiles, Bollywood films, weapons and oil. His £300m home near Buckingham Palace is believed to be the world's third most expensive.

4. John Fredriksen
The Norwegian-born Cypriot shipping tycoon, 69, is worth £6.9bn, and made his fortune in the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s. He owns the world's largest shipping fleet

5. Gerald Grosvenor
The 6th Duke of Westminster, 62, is the wealthiest landowner in Britain. His £6.6bn fortune is founded on his
family's ownership of 190 acres of Belgravia, one of London's most exclusive areas, and he also owns prime real
estate on five continents.

6. Hans Rausing
The 87-year-old is the co-inheritor of the Tetra Pak fortune, and his wealth is estimated at £6.6bn. He divides his time between Sweden, the Bahamas and Britain, where he breeds deer and wild boar on his sprawling estate.

7. Roman Abramovich
The Chelsea FC owner, 47, started out selling plastic ducks on the streets of Moscow, and is now worth £4.8bn. He made his fortune in the oil industry in the 1990s, after the Soviet Union's assets were stripped by private speculators.The oligarch now has interests in steel and mining.

8. Bruno Schroder
With wealth estimated at £3.5bn, the 80-year-old is the fourth generation in his family to run the asset management
firm Schroders. He spends most of his time in Dunlossit Castle on the Isle of Islay, where he lives with his wife,
Baroness Suzanna von Maltzahn.

9. Charles Cadogan
The 8th Earl of Cadogan, 76, heads a property empire with addresses in some of London's most affluent postcodes. His
own home in the capital is believed to be worth £20m.

10. Sir Richard Branson
The British-born businessman and entrepreneur, 63, has a
fortune estimated at £3.5bn. He set up his first business, a mail order record company in 1970, and his Virgin Group
now comprises more than 400 companies. Branson lives on
Caribbean idyll Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, a
tax haven.

2014 Korean Government Scholarship Program Guideline for International Students



ELIGIBILITY: Application Requirements

 The applicant and his/her parents must have foreign citizenships.

Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program.

 Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for an extended period of time.

Applicants must submit the Personal Medical Assessment (included in the application form) when he/she apply for this program, and when it’s orientation, an Official Medical Examination will be done by NIIED. A serious illness (For example, HIV, Drug, etc) will be the main cause of disqualification from the scholarship. The handicapped who satisfy the above are also eligible for the program

 NOT Eligible: those who are pregnant (disqualified upon discovery)
Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2014 (born after Sep. 1st, 1974).
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of August 31st, 2014.

* (Important) Applicants who have ever enrolled in a university in Korea will be disqualified from applying to the KGSP program. Specifically, an applicant who has previously enrolled in an undergraduate program, a master’s program, a doctoral program including an exchange program (D-2 visa holders ever) in Korea cannot apply for this program.
Exception 1. Applicant who has experienced an exchange program in Korea only for previous academic courses graduation, and if it was mandatory for his or her graduation of degree program; thus could submit official explanation from the attended institution can apply for this KGSP program.


Exception 2. The KGSP scholar who has graduated or will graduate from a Korean university as of August 31st, 2014 can apply for this program again only via the embassy if only he/she holds at least TOPIK Level 4 and obtain another recommendation within the allotment from the Korean Embassy of his/her respective country of origin (re-application is limited to one instance).


* Applicants who apply for the Master’s program must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree.
* Applicants who apply for the Doctoral program must hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.
* Applicants who are expecting to obtain the relevant required degree or diploma by August 31st, 2014 must submit a certificate of degree or diploma expectation, and submit the official certificate of degree or diploma to NIIED by August 31st, 2014. (If not, disqualified for this program)

Applicants must maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
* If an applicant does not satisfy the above GPA criteria, he/she will be disqualified from applying to this program.
* If the transcript is not indicated in grades/marks/scores format, or is difficult to convert into percentages, attachment of official explanation from the attended institution is required.
 Applicants who have Korean proficiency or English proficiency may be given preference.
 Applicants who apply for natural science and technology program may be given preference.
 Applicants who are university professors currently in the developing countries may be given preference.

PRIZE: Scholarship Period : same as the period of invitation.

o Payment:
-Airfare: Round-trip economy class ticket.
* Airfare for entry will not be provided to scholars who already currently live in Korea for academic study or employment.
* The fees for domestic travel within a scholar’s home country and for travel insurance to and from Korea will not be provided.
* Scholars from China and the Czech Republic will not be provided airfare by NIIED, but by their country of origin according to the mutual agreements.
-Monthly Allowance : 900,000 won (KRW) per month.
-Research Allowance : 210,000 won for scholars in the humanities and social sciences; 240,000 won for scholars in natural and mechanic sciences, per semester.
-Relocation (Settlement) Allowance : 200,000 won upon arrival (only for scholars from their own country, not for scholars who already currently live in Korea)
-Language Training Fee : Full coverage
-Tuitions : All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university). The tuition is paid by NIIED.
-Dissertation Printing Costs : 500,000 ~ 800,000 won, depending on the actual costs.
-Medical Insurance : 20,000 won per month will be provided (limited coverage).
-Special funding for scholars who are proficient in the Korean language (TOPIK Level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month (commencing from the degree program)

Kanu Nwankwo undergoes heart surgery again!

Nigerian football legend and founder of the Kanu Heart Foundation, KHF, Nwankwo Kanu recently underwent a corrective heart surgery at the Cleveland Hospital Ohio, USA, Vanguard reports

The surgery was carried out during one of his normal yearly routine medical checks at the hospital following the 1997 heart surgery at the same hospital.
Co-ordinator of the Kanu Heart Foundation, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia confirmed the success of the surgery adding that the former Super Eagles captain has since left the intensive care unit, ICU, of the hospital and is recuperating in the hospital

"He’ll be back home in a few days time. I spoke with him Sunday afternoon and he confirmed he’s in a stable condition.’’, Abia said in a statement.His younger brother Ogbonna Kanu confirmed to me that the surgery did take place and Kanu is recovering well.
