#child abuse# Google vows to block child pornography

Google, the Internet search giant, has promised a worldwide block on search results linked to child abuse.

In an about turn the media firm has agreed to make changes which will prevent illegal child pornography appearing for more than 100,000 different searches.

The news comes ahead of Downing Street summit on online pornography later today, when Microsoft, which operates Bing and Yahoo search engines, is expected to announce it is introducing similar terms.

Google says it has developed the technology to tag the illegal images and videos so that all duplicates can be removed across the Internet. The restrictions will be launched in the UK first, before being expanded to other English-speaking countries and 158 other languages in the next six months.

A further 13,000 search terms linked with child sex abuse will flash up with warnings from Google and charities telling the user that the content could be illegal and pointing them towards help.

Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, said: ‘We’ve listened. We’ve fine-tuned Google Search to prevent links to child sexual abuse material from appearing in our results.”

Despite praising the efforts of the company, Mr Cameron said that the move may not go far enough, threatening legislation if the firms refuse to do more.

“We learnt from cases like the murder of Tia Sharp and April Jones that people will often start accessing extreme material via a simple search in one of the mainstream search engines,” the Prime Minister said.

Google and Microsoft, who cover 95 per cent of the market, had originally argued against the very principle of blocking the material, claiming it could not and should not be done.

New algorithms, sets of instructions for software, have now been developed which block illegal pornography and pathways to illegal content.

Auto-complete features which prompt child abuse search terms will also be blocked. The system is designed to pick up on new code words or terms paedophiles start to use and block search results for these too.

Google has offered to share the technology it has developed in the fight against online pornography with other companies.

While Mr Schmidt admitted that “no algorithm is perfect”, he pledged that his company would give technical support to those trying to combat child pornography.

“While society will never wholly eliminate such depravity, we should do everything in our power to protect children from harm,” he said.

The Internet companies will also work alongside the National Crime Agency and the Internet Watch Foundation to target “peer to peer” file sharing networks which paedophiles use to contact each other.

Mr Cameron added: “If the search engines are unable to deliver on their commitment to prevent child abuse material being returned from search terms used by paedophiles, I will bring forward legislation that will ensure it happens.

“There are some terms that are so shocking and unambiguous that I believe they should return nothing at all. It’s not an infringement of free speech, it’s responsible business practice.”

Peter Barron, Google spokesman, said: “The sexual abuse of children ruins young lives. It’s why we proactively remove these awful images from our services–and report offenders to the authorities.

“But the government’s right that our industry can do more. So we’ve developed new technology to detect and remove videos of abuse, we are showing warnings against search terms related to child sexual abuse, and we are fine tuning our search engine to prevent this material appearing in our results.

” We hope this will make difference in the fight against this terrible crime”

John Carr, a child protection campaigner, added: “Google and Microsoft have really pulled out the stops. This is a very impressive initiative.

“It is narrowing the spaces in which paedophiles and collectors of child abuse images can operate. The challenge now is to work out how to gauge the effectiveness and learn from the various measures that are being put in place but I am sure there is a will so we can find a way.”

AWKWARD!! Brazilian student who auctioned her virginity for £485,000 hopes to sell it AGAIN !!

Brazilian student who auctioned her virginity for £485,000 hopes to sell it AGAIN after claiming the last buyer did not have sex with her!!
A Brazilian student who sold her virginity for £485,000 is yet again offering it up in another online auction, claiming she the original deal was never consummated.
Catarina Migliorini, 21, is selling her ‘virginity’ to bidders for the minimum of £62,000, but says she hopes for at least £930,000 ($1.5million).

Miss Migliorini’s original ‘virginity auction’ was filmed for an Australian documentary, but she claims she was duped by filmmaker Justin Sisely, and that she was never given the money a Japanese man paid for her purity last October.

Virgin or victim? Brazilian student Catarina Migliorini sold her virginity for $780,000 after she put it up for auction online; but she is now claiming she is a victim who was exploited into selling her body. The original auction made Miss Migliorini a minor celebrity in Brazil and she posed for Playboy in her native country and Argentina.

‘After being featured by so many media outlets in so many countries, I decided to actually auction off my virginity,’ she explains to The Huffington Post regarding her decision to yet again sell her virginity.

Miss Migliorini previously said she wanted to give 90 per cent of the final auction sale price to a non-governmental organization constructing modern houses in her southern home state of Santa Catarina.

However, as she claims never to have been given the money – nor lost her virginity – the organisation has yet to receive her help.

In October last year, Natsu, 53, a Japanese millioniaire fended off strong competition from American bidders Jack Miller and Jack Right, and Indian big-spender Rudra Chatterjee, to secure a date with the physical education student – who said she would use the cash to build homes for poverty-stricken families.

The auction was supposedly part of an Australian documentary entitled Virgins Wanted, in which Mr Sisley would explore the lives of Miss Migliorini and Alex Stepanov, a male who auctioned his virginity for $3,000.

But when Miss Migliorini went to meet her winning bidder, Natsu, in a Sydney restaurant, she claims that he didn’t match the description Mr Sisely had given her, and insists the pair did not have sex. She also claims Mr Sisely did not cover her traveling expenses, or give her the £485,000paid by Natsu; and she now believes that ‘Natsu‘ doesn’t exist, and that the auction was simply a ploy to gain media coverage for the documentary.

‘I agreed to go along with [the auction], because Justin said it would be the best way to draw attention from the media about the project,’ she said.

Virginity for sale!

Mr Sisely, who first announced the documentary in May 2010 and said it would conclude with both of the virgins having sex, denies her claims.

‘We have the footage to prove otherwise,’ he explained. In a bid to avoid prostitution laws, Miss Migliorini was to be ‘delivered’ to her buyer on board a plane between Australia and the U.S. – being interviewed before and after the sexual act.

The intercourse itself would not be filmed, said Mr Sisely, and Natsu would retain a right to be anonymous, without his picture appearing in the media. Both Migliorini’s original claims of virginity and this time around have been treated with suspicion by medical professionals as it there is no foolproof way of telling if a woman is a virgin. Miss Migliorini signed up to the project three years ago when she saw an advert by Thomas Williams Productions looking for a virgin to film.

Prof. Iyayi Was Shot By Policemen In Kogi's Governor Convoy - SaharaReporters

The latest report from Sahara Reporters, if confirmed true, may be the beginning of another reason to extend the calling off of the ongoing ASUU strike. Read for yourself below...

An anonymous tipster has confided in SaharaReporters that Festus Iyayi, a former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), was actually shot by policemen in the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, prior to the road accident in which he supposedly died last week.

The source claimed that the injuries found on the late writer’s chest were consistent with gunshot injuries and that a bullet did pierce his heart.
One Dr. Paul Amodu of the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja had revealed that Professor Iyayi died after "something" pierced his chest, but he didn't specify what it was.

SaharaReporters was first to reveal last week said the popular professor and writer died in a collision with a security vehicle in Governor Wada’s convoy.

Sources at ASUU said they had dissuaded Iyayi's family from a “rushed” burial, as they suspected foul play. One of the sources recalled that another former president of ASUU, Dr. Mahmood Tukur, also died in suspicious circumstances on the Kaduna-Zaria highway, with the police claiming he died of an asthma attack because he ate pepper which, they claimed, triggered it.

SaharaReporters spoke with Prof. Iyayi's son, Omole, regarding the latest information, but he said the family was unaware, and that they do not even have the autopsy performed yet.

A press statement issued by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA)signed by its President Osahom Enabulele has previously called for a special inquiry into Professor Iyayi's death but the statement didn't say if the doctors found that Iyayi may been shot as alleged by the anonymous source.

the luxurious SOUTH AFRICA'S under-water Hotel- $1,500 per night for a couple.

Africa has introduced its first underwater hotel room and it's the second room of this kind in the world. This room, located at the Manta Resort on the Zanzibari island of Pemba, was designed by the same Swedish artist Mikael Genberg, who erected the first underwater hotel room in a lake in Sweden. The invention is 4 meters beneath the surface. The three-tiered suite includes a roof deck, a landing deck at sea level with a lounge and bathroom, and of course the underwater bedroom.

The bedroom windows afford a nearly 360-degree view of a nearby coral reef and dozens of species of fish.
A luxurious room costs $900 per night as a single or $1,500 per night as a couple.
