Barcelona deny Messi wants pay rise after Ronaldo is given new £15m contract
Sandro Rossell has been forced to deny speculations that Barcelona’s forward Lionel Messi has asked for an increase in his wages, after Real Madrid handed Cristiano Ronaldo a massive £15million deal.
The current world footballer of the year, is reported to be unhappy at Ronaldo’s new contract and wants Barca to raise his salary beyond what the Portuguese now earns. Messi currently earns 12.5million euros.
“Does Ronaldo’s renewal affect Messi’s contract? Messi hasn’t said anything to us,” Rosell said.
“He’s happy here and he’s at the best club in the world. No news is good news.”
Messi has scored six times in three games this season, including a hat-trick against Valencia.
