INEC sacks nine workers in A’Ibom, Osun, others

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the dismissal of eight of its staff and termination of the appointment of another one, bringing the total number of affected workers to nine.

Their exit was contained in a memo signed by the commission’s Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Musa Adamu, and published in Wednesday’s edition of INEC Daily Bulletin.

The reasons for the workers’ sacking were not stated, but sources at the commission said it was not unconnected with the preparations for the 2015 general elections.

The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, did not pick calls made to his mobile telephone set when our correspondent called him on Wednesday for further clarifications.

The affected staff members, according to the memo, are, Mr Martin Yakwo (Admin. Officer II) on GL 08 (Benue State); Esther Francis Ita (Senior Executive Officer), GL 09 (Akwa Ibom State); Imelda E. Akpan (Admin. Officer I) GL 09 (Akwa Ibom); Ogudo Esther N. (Assistant Executive Officer) GL 06 (Akwa Ibom) and Mrs. Eberewariye A. Sharon (Admin. Officer) GL 09 (FCT).
