Assault: Pastor sues PDP national officer for N100m

      


A N100 million suit has been slammed against the National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Bolaji Akpan Anani, for allegedly assaulting a Pastor, Upo Ude Eko, during a recent family meeting in their community, Ediba, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State to discuss arrangements for the interment of late Dr. Ewa Eko, the Patriarch of Eko Family.

Aside from Ani, who is listed as first defendant, Professor (Mrs.) Ebele Ofoma Eko and Ude Ewa Eko are listed as second and third defendants, respectively, in the Suit No. HUG/38/2013, before Justice Eyo Effiom Ita at the High Court, Ugep, Cross River State.

Aside from Upo, who is listed in the suit as first claimants, listed as second and third claimants respectively, are Bassey Onoyo Igiri and Uyo Eto.

In the statement of claims filed on their behalf by their counsel, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, the claimants are demanding as follows: “A declaration that the unilateral decision by the first defendant to vested (vest) the authority on the second and third defendants to decide to bury the late Dr. Ewa Eko in Calabar, Cross River State of Nigeria, rather than in his ancestral home in Ediba, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State is sacrilegious, anathemic and contrary to the Customary Law of Ediba, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State of Nigeria.
