Fed. College Of Agriculture Students Protest Rape Of Female Students






The students of the Federal College of Agriculture in Akure,the Ondo state capital, staged a peaceful demonstration to protest the poor security in the college which they say gave rise to the raping of two female students of the college.
The two ladies, both in their first year of the National Diploma cadre were beaten and raped at about 1 a.m. this morning.
According to our source, the Students apprehended one out of the five suspected rapists, Ife Oluwa Modupe who we were told is a student of the college also, but Ife Oluwa later escaped from the college security post where he was detained.
The President of the Students Union of the College, Oladipo Akindamini and other students lamented over the poor state of security in the College.
Reacting, the Provost of the College, Dr Mary Ogunkoya told Newsmen that the situation has been calmed, and the injured students receiving treatment at the hospital.
She said the fleeing rapist will be rearrested as Police investigations are on. She however promised that the security challenges plaguing the College will be addressed.
