Dead Whale - Alpha Beach Turns Tourist Site

Following the washing ashore of a dead whale at Alpha beach in Lagos, the place has now become a tourist site as thousands of Lagosians flocked the beach yesterday.
LEADERSHIP gathered that while some Lagosians went to catch a glimpse of the dead fish, others headed for the beach to partake in the sharing of the free meat.
Young boys with cutlasses, axes and buckets have been flocking the beach to take home parts of the carcass.
The influx of Lagosians to the area has also led to an increase in Okada fare from Ibeju Lekki junction to the beach, which has risen from N300 to N500.
A motorcyclist, Ibrahim Musa, told LEADERSHIP that many people had been visiting the beach to catch a glimpse of the whale and this necessitated an increase in transport fare to the beach.
No health official or local government officials have visited the area to take charge of the situation.
