MAN, 64, DEFILES 6- YEAR-OLD GIRL IN EBONYI

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ebonyi State Command yesterday confirmed the arrest of a 64-year-old man, for allegedly defiling a six year old girl, Nkwegu Chinwe at Agbaenyim in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.

Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the corps Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of corps Emmanuel Nwali, said the suspect would have been lynched by angry youths in the area, but was saved by men of the command.
Nwali said after investigation, the suspect would be transferred to the appropriate agency for action.
He said according to the village head and other members of the community, the suspect has been engaging in the act.
“The victim who felt a hard push between her legs, raised an alarm which attracted members of the community. Soon after that, we received a signal from one of our division in Izzi that an old man defiled a six year old girl. When we got the report, we told them to transfer the matter to our command headquarters in Abakaliki so that we will handle it appropriately”, he said.
