ASUU latest: NEGOTIATE WITH FG, UNILORIN VC URGES STRIKING LECTURERS

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, has called on striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to return to the negotiable table with the government to amicably resolve the ongoing industrial action.
ASUU had declared an indefinite strike to seek full implementation of the agreement it reached with the government in 2009.
While virtually all federal universities are on strike, academic activities continue in Unilorin, a federal university which has distanced itself from several industrial actions embarked upon by ASUU for over a decade.
During an interactive session with newsmen, Ambali urged the two parties to shift ground towards finding a quick resolution to the crisis.
“Where two parties are fighting, nobody will be 100 per cent right. I just want to urge the two parties to understand each other and come to conclusion so that students can continue their study in peace”, Ambali said.
Meanwhile, Unilorin has expelled five students over various acts of misconduct.
