2 KILLED AS VEHICLES COLLIDE AT YANGOJI




Two persons lost their lives while eight others sustained various degrees of injuries Friday night when two vehicles had a head-on collision near Yangoji village, along Kwali-Lokoja road.

A witness said the accident happened around 8:15 pm when a Toyota Corolla car with registration number GG322 BAS coming from Lokoja end overtook dangerously and collided with an oncoming Toyota Camry car with registration number BR 349 AKD, killing the two persons on the spot.
He said the driver of one of the cars and one other person died on the spot while rescue officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who got the wind of the accident, rushed to the scene to evacuate the corpses and the injured victims to the hospital.

Reacting, Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Austine Chukwudi Okeke, confirmed that two persons lost their lives in the accident while eight others sustained various degrees of injuries.
He said the injured victims and the corpses of the dead persons were taken to Kwali General Hospital.
The unit commander attributed the accident to wrongful overtaking.
He further disclosed that two persons were also injured on the same day in another accident that occurred near Bako village, along Abuja-Lokoja road.

Okeke said the accident happened around 2:45 pm when a Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number KK 622 ABJ had a tyre burst on top speed and in the process lost control and crashed into a ditch by the road side.
He said the two injured victims were rescued and taken to Kwali General Hospital for treatment.
