Siasia eyes U-23 job

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, is willing to coach the U-23 team, also known as the Dream Team, if given the opportunity.
Siasia led the team to the final of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 where it lost 0-1 to Argentine U-23 national team.
He had managed the Flying Eagles to the 2005 FIFA World Cup where the team got to the final.
He was contracted for the job of the senior national team, Super Eagles and later fired after the team failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
According to gongnews, Siasia is willing to coach the team again, if the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) contact him for the vacant Olympic Team coaching job.
He added that he would be ready to sit down and discuss terms with them so that he can take over the job.
He dismissed insinuations from some quarters that he is not interested in coaching the team because of the way he was sacked as Super Eagles coach.
“Nobody can dictate what is going on in my mind unless you approach me and I tell you. Why would I turn down an offer to coach the national team? If the NFF contact me for the job we would sit down and discuss terms and if okay why not, I will take up the job.”
He further explained that his sack after the Eagles failed to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup was part of the nature of the job, and he has so far left that behind him, adding that he has always contributed his quota to national issues not because he was annoyed with the federation but to say his mind for the up-liftment of the game of soccer in the country.
