Falcons get coach next week

It has been learned that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Sub-committee is expected to meet in Abuja next week to decide on the vacant head coach role of the women's national team.
"The technical committee of the NFF will meet on Monday or Tuesday. At least I'm sure they will meet next week to discuss on upcoming programmes for the various national teams. And one of the important matters they will discuss will be appointing a coach for the Super Falcons.

"Definitely a decision on the new coach should be made once the technical committee meets next week and the recommendation will be forwarded to the executive committee for final ratification. The plan is to have a coaching crew in place and in time for the friendly matches against Japan," said an official of the football federation on Saturday.
A number of coaches have been linked with the Super Falcons coaching job since Kadiri Ikhana resigned in November 2012 after an unimpressive African Women's Championship (AWC).
Among those reported by the Nigerian media to be in line for the Falcons job include Sam Okpodu, Edet Egan, Ntiero Effiom, Edwin Okon and Eucharia Uche.
Also, former Falcons' players, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Ann Chiejine and Florence Omagbemi have been tipped for the vacant job.
Other sources within the football federation also informed supersport.com that a foreigner might be considered for the job.
But the plan to bring in a foreigner looks remote as the NFF is financially handicapped at the moment for such project.
