2 killed, 3 injured as cult group strikes in Bariga
Two people were killed on Monday morning and three others severely injured as suspected cult members invaded Onile Iyan street in Sungas area of Bariga in Lagos State
The early Monday attack was said to be a reprisal attack from suspected members of Eiye confraternity from Somolu, who lost one of their members, Isiaka Oyefeso, popularly known as Soko, during a recent attack by Aiye members
The Nigerian Tribune investigations revealed that the invaders were on the trail of leaders of the Aiye group, simply identified as Tijani and Oshodi , who were alleged to have masterminded the killing of Soko.
A gang of about 30 heavily armed suspected cultists had reportedly around 3.30a.m on Monday morning, invaded 16 Onile Iyan street to avenge the death of one of them.
It was gathered that Tijani and Oshodi, who were suspected members of a rival group, lives in the building where the attack took place but in a different room.
A resident of the area who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune identified the deceased people as Michael and Jimoh.
The deceased persons and three others were until the incident, residing in the first room on the left side of the building , while the target stay on the last room on the same left side.
“They are boys from Somolu and Johnson in search of Tijani and Oshodi who reside in that house but unfortunately, they were not properly informed about the room of their target “the resident said.
Jimoh , a generator engineer and Michael, an electrician and three others were deeply asleep in the room, when the invaders broke into their room and shot them at close range .
Not satisfied with the shootings , the invaders used machetes and other dangerous weapons on the occupants of the room, creating serious panic among residents of the area.
The duo died instantly, while the injured people were around 4.00 a.m rushed to Remedy Hospital where they were rejected before they were later taken to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) , where they are currently receiving treatment.
